BASE Jumping

BASE jumping is the activity of parachuting from a fixed object. Fixed objects can be cliffs, buildings, antennas, bridges, cables, dams or any other object fixed to the ground. Wingsuit BASE jumping has combined the sport of BASE jumping with a suit that allows the pilot to glide down a mountain with a glide ratio around 3:1.

The acronym B.A.S.E. was created by Carl Boenish. It stands for Building, Antenna, Span, Earth

Paragliding  Speedriding

Speedriding is a unique hybrid sport that combines paragliding, parachuting and skiing to create the ultimate sport. In Speedriding, a small wing is launched from a ski slope with the wing overhead, already inflated.   This small wing allows the skier to fly on the terrain at high speeds, and also to fly higher above the slope.  Paragliding uses a larger wing which allows the pilot to maintain a longer, gentler flight.  By utilizing the power of wind and thermals a paraglider pilot can remain airborne for hours.

Climbing

Similar to BASE jumping and Speedriding, Rock Climbing is a physical and mental sport.  It tests mental control, strength, endurance and agility.

Many of the most popular places to BASE jump require a certain amount of climbing to reach the exit point.

Because it is necessary to jumping down all the gear that is brought up, BASE Jumpers tend to rely more on their Rock Climbing skills and ditch the gear.
